Last Thursday was 711's free slurpee day and I went with my coworker Jenna after work. But you know what sucked? We entered the store at 7:04 and the giveaway ended at 7. However that honestly did not stop us... We decided to still get slurpees but bigger ones than those rinky dinky sizes they were handing out.
And if you don't know Amanda & I are the slurpee queens. So getting one in Boston is not the same as getting one in Cali... haha. Oh yeah! I also found hot Cheetos which was MAJOR rare out here in Boston (cuz they are no where to be found its cray cray.) So I got really excited after I made my purchase. Lol. I also continued to go shopping on Newbury street hitting up Zara and Brandy Melville spending unnecessary money. Oh well I owe it to myself. Right?
I've been in Boston for 5 months now. TIME FLIES!
Lucky for me I get to spend 4th of July in the Bay. And the only proper way to celebrate America's Independence is to light sparklers, hang out with my loved ones, and listen to Ja Rule. And to be quite honest that's all I want to do while I'm out there.
Amanda and I have a couple projects lined up so it shall be an interesting trip when I arrive to the East Bay. Counting down the days as I type this post up...
As we all can see it is officially summer in the U.S.
And lucky for y'all I (micah) have created a summer time essential guide for all the babes. I have a list of things you need, to stay stylish and clean while bathing in the sun.
First things First
Neutrogena 's spray on sun screen:
Let me just tell you how useful this shit is. No matter how fucking hot it is out where you're at spraying this shit will not only prevent you from burning but will also keep you cool. It's like a water mist that works wonders. Every time I attend a music festival I bring this with me, its the best!
I think you should carry this wherever you are. Especially during the summer time. Whenever my palms get sweaty my mind begins to tell me my hands to be washed. And most of the time there's not a bathroom nearby... this goes for outdoors all the time during the summer.
I tried Vita Coco for the first time at Coachella in 2010. And this was when I was with my friends chillin in the parking lot when some vita coco promo girls were riding their bikes and gave my friends and I a ton of flavors to try. And it was beyond refreshing and yummy (when cold). This should be your go to drink in the heat.
If you wanna keep it girly for your boyfriend, wear something with floral print. Everybody loves floral print in the summer. It's colorful, cute, and simple.
Vintage Inspired Flats:
Layoff the clogs and wooden heels by jeffrey campbell, and go for something more comfortable and cozy like a pair of flats. You can dress these up and down by adding socks. Plus instead of suffering in the heat with sweaty feet in heels you will be able to walk normally for the entire day.
That One "WOW "Bathing Suit:
This bathing suit you have invested $200 dollars in will be the ultimate summer piece in your wardrobe. Nothing screams out 'haute' wherever you decide to wear this item too. Daytime drinking at a pool party, outdoor party, camping, daytime club etc... Will def get get people's attention if you wear it to the right place.
I think this particular style is definitely my favorite model shoe Jeffrey Campbell has been designing lately. Those tranny platform heels are now hard to style and to deal with because of the dramatic look it gives. This heel, literally goes with ANY look. I kid you not. This is why I put it next to this bathing suit.
I picked these specific sneakers because of the infamous Hawaiian print thats back in style. You can dress these babies up/down.
IDK if it's a Cali thing but I am literally obsessed with high waisted bottoms. I usually wear these on the daily even when it's not hot outside. (OOPS) However I do tend to dress them according to season. But as of right now since its 90 degrees in Boston I literally wear Cropped tops, high waisted shorts, a flannel tied around my waist, and some Vans.
The Perfect Sunglasses:
Make sure you have those one pair of sunglasses that compliment your face frame. I usually play it safe and get big framed glasses because of the shape of my face. Sunglasses are a NEED during the summer. Come on you need to protect your delicate eyes, but just make sure to not fall asleep with them on so you don't get a raccoon eye tan.
Very important to have a cute backpack. This is very useful for when you travel and go to certain places. Like once again going to a music festival. It just lingers on your back and shit.
Back to the Basics:
Okay so say you're not into all this weird styled shit I'm throwing at you guys... Well if you're into being plain and simple but have no idea how to style certain pieces you have that aren't as flashy. You can simply knot your tank into a cropped look. It's sexy, but simple at the SAME DAMN TIME. I love this look! Especially with low rise stuff like these ONE TEASPOON shorts. Just make sure to accessorize with silver vintage looking jewelry.
Capture the Moments:
If you've been following my personl fashion blog I started in High School you'll recall me blogging in nothing but 35 mm film. And I love using film. The Lomography Fisheye cam is a great camera to use shooting outdoors. The natural lighting looks dope, and when you get it developed it makes you savor that moment you captured thru the lens of your plastic camera.
Trust me charge this bad boy before you go on an adventure and SLAP YOUR MUSIC HELLA LOUD WHEREVER YOU'RE AT. I brought mine with me camping memorial day weekend and my campsite was pretty much going dumb.
Fuck a fadora! Protect your face from all the UV rays... But most importantly do it in style. Although there are certain ways to wear floppy hats I think it's very important to dress very minimal if you're going to accessorize with this. Mainly because its such a loud piece because of the size. But it's def a summer need.
*AND THERE YOU HAVE IT FOLKS! IF YOU'RE WONDERING WHY I PUT NO BEAUTY PRODUCTS IN THIS POST ITS BECAUSE YOU SHOULDN'T WEAR MAKE UP DURING SUMMER TIME! GO ALL NATURAL BABY. FUCK SWEATING THAT SHIT OFF, IT'S NOT WORTH IT!*
Typical day for us:
-Call each other to let one another know we're outside
-Hang out in each other's room
-Share our latest favorite songs
-Mess around on Photo Booth
-Leave our rooms to go eat somewhere
-Laugh at our dorky jokes
-Come back to each others room, and plop our happy booty's down for a nap
THE CRAZY THING IS... WE NEVER GET SICK OF EACH OTHER
My brother emailed me this morning so randomly! And sent me all these photos I totally forgot we took on HIS macbook. Hahah! That has got to be one of the best feelings, you know... forgetting you did something then it coming back at you out of nowhere. It totally made my day because I hella remember this day as if it were yesterday.
Love you manderz
Greetings ladies and gents. I want to first start off by clarifying that I do not have a Twitter, Tumblr, or a Facebook. I haven't had either of those in years, and apparently I have some fake accounts lingering around the web. I literally have strangers coming up to me confirming whether I run the sites or not. It's crazy!
Anyway, down to the good stuff. My
cousin French and I hit up Santa Cruz a while ago just the two of us.
Since I'm only 35 minutes away from there, I try to make it out as much
as I can because where else are you going to find decent beaches in
Northern Cali? Plus, Santa Cruz vibes are so chill I can't get enough.
The weather was perfect that day. We went down town, ate at this
adorable little cafe that I found off Yelp, checked out the surf shops,
and went to the boardwalk. The best part of all was that my cousin
picked up her first little cruiser. I recommended the same one that I
have, she bought it in yellow, and automatically fell in love with it so
I was stoked that she was happy. Here are a few snap shots she took of
me from the day. And of course, special thanks to the awesome Vans PR
Michelle Corona for sending the shoes, button up, and t-shirt I'm
With all that being said, I can't help but miss my boo Micah. I think about her everyday and I can't wait for her to come home to me in July. We've been planning things for the summer, so stay tuned.
I MISS AMANDA SOOOOOO MUCH! :'(
I've been out in Boston for 3 months now and it's getting better. However theres not a day that goes by when I'm not thinking about home. Sorry we haven't been updating the blog we've both been crazy busy with work and it's hard to update when we're both in different states. But this summer embrace yourselves! PISTOL WHIP will be in full effect! We have a couple of events we're looking forward to sharing with you guys and gals. So stay tuned. In the meantime lets take a minute to reminisce over some photos that never made it onto our social media sites...
I remember sitting in my office on my second day of work at Karmaloop and saw an email from Vans. My first reaction was... maybe its just a daily email with promo. But nope! It was Michelle aka the PR princess for Vans girls, saying how much she admired Pistol Whip's style and how Amanda and I rock Vans all the time. I was beyond flattered because we have been wearing Vans since our early high school days. With that being said we got sent a lovely care package which features the latest Vans Spring Collection.
So can I just say how much I've missed my girlfriend Amanda Reyes.. Ever since I have moved to Boston everything has drastically changed for me. The one thing I missed was our summer days where we would skate to 711 and grab slurpees, taki's, and hot Cheetos while laughing our asses off with our hysterical jokes (which only the both of us understand). I was waaaaaay to happy to see her which was the highlight of my entire trip flying back home this previous weekend. :)
Love you boo!
Take a look at how we styled the purple era's, red & blue ski hi's, our oxford button ups, and the graphic tee's! Big thanks and shout out to Michelle!
